Red Tide Status (March 18, 2016)
“Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, was observed in background concentrations in one sample collected from inshore waters of Manatee County and in one sample collected alongshore of Collier County. Additional samples collected throughout Florida this past week did not contain K. brevis.
Samples collected in Monroe County during the preceding week (3/9/2016) showed background to low concentrations of K. brevis; however, samples were not collected there over the past week. We are expecting samples from that area soon.”
